TICO introduced the Pro-Spotter terminal tractor to the retail market in 2008. A defining innovation for TICO – we built about 1,200 tractors for the TICO fleet before we decided to sell one. TICO began manufacturing its own tractors in the 1980’s as a way to address the need for equipment built to a maintenance and operator criteria. This innovation has proved to be a critical aspect in the successes recorded by numerous ports.įrom our fleet to yours, we appreciate every opportunity to demonstrate the TICO difference. As an innovative concept, these pools were created to enable stevedores and port operators to have terminal tractors available on an as needed basis – as many as needed on the busiest day when all cranes are running – without having to own and maintain any tractors and with absolute cost identification.

The arrival of pure container vessels, as well as terminals devoted to containerized trade presented a window to innovate capital equipment end-user efficiencies through the creation of neutral pools of terminal tractors. Booker recognized opportunities to address and alleviate capital and operating inefficiencies in port operations. Beginning with the inter-city bus transportation and terminal business of the 1950’s and 1960’s, progressing to port related labor transportation of the 1960’s and 1970’s, to the unique port equipment rental pools established in the 1980’s as well as the manufacturing operation that was developed to support our service business. Terminal Investment Corporation today represents an evolution that follows the initiatives of the Booker family over two complete generations and nearly seven decades. Every TICO customer gets to benefit from a unique insight that we offer with our products we use them everyday, just like you.
